For the 26/27 School Year
The School Nurse is expected to identify and treat health issues among students and promote good health and disease prevention. The School Nurse is self directed and clinically autonomous. The School Nurse is responsible for students in Kindergarten thru 5th Grade.
Responsibilities and Duties/Essential job Functions:
Assess student condition in the event of illness or injury.
Interpret the health needs of children.
Perform health care as required by individual student needs, to the extent possible and appropriate.
Educate students and staff about health issues and/or concerns
Maintain proper documentation.
Monitor student compliance with state immunization, Posnack immunization requirements and physical/athletic laws. Provide documentation as required by the county regarding immunizations.
Maintain the health clinic area to ensure compliance with legal, county and state requirements regarding the maintenance and the functional service area including the proper supplies, the correct storage of medications, over the counter and controlled medications.
Assume responsibility for professional growth and keep skills up-to-date.
Perform other duties as may be deemed necessary for the efficient operation of the department.
It is essential for the Employee to arrive on time to work every scheduled work day. It is essential for the Employee to maintain good attendance and give ample notice, when possible, when Employee will be absent. It is essential for Employee to speak to co-workers with respect and to follow all of the requirements and expectations in the Employee Handbook.
Requirements
The School Nurse must be a registered nurse and be certified in CPR or BLS. A minimum of 3 years experience in an acute care setting. Must be able to communicate effectively in both written and verbal language, and demonstrate sound judgement. Must be able to work effectively with children of varying developmental stages as well as adult population. Must be flexible to changing environments.Salary based on experience.
